History

The Colts were founded in 1953, after the city of Baltimore was awarded an NFL team, owned by Caroll Rosenbloom. He was awarded the assets to the Dallas Texans team which came from a long line of teams. Dallas Texans came from the New York Yanks, the Boston Yanks, then the Brooklyn Dodgers (not the baseball team), then the Dayton Triangles (played the first NFL game).

In the early seasons, they performed well with QB Johnny Unitas, winning the 1958 NFL Championship and making it to Super Bowl III and winning Super Bowl V. In 1984 the colts were moved to Indianapolis due to stadium issues with the city of Baltimore.

In 2006 the Colts won Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears with QB Peyton Manning leading them. They made it again in Super Bowl XLIV in 2010 but eventually lost to the New Orleans Saints.

Current and Future

In the 2025 NFL Season, the Colts went 8-9 after starting 8-2, one of the biggest mid-season collapses ever. QB Daniel Jones and RB Jonathan Taylor dominated in the league up until the Week 12 Bye Week.

Jones would get injured as well as many important defensive players. The Colts would miss the playoffs after Jones’ achilles injury. The Colts now have the choice to re-sign Daniel Jones after his career best season in Indianapolis. As well as star WR Alec Pierce. Jones and the Colts organizations have mutual interest in resigning.

The colts' future is unknown. If the Colts finish next season the way they started it this season, can they win the Super Bowl?
